The Subtle Art of Giving the Real Neat Blog Award a Pass

A little short story, precisely on Wednesday. I just watched “Doctor Sleep” directed by Mike Flanagan. I think it’s just a great movie. The plot is there and doesn’t rely too much on fanservice to the original movie. The pace is slow but the pay-off at least left me with just a clear conclusion. I don’t expect an ambiguous ending or this film would be better than “The Shining”. But, it’s a good movie I think. In this case, I better talk about it later in the review.

After I finished watching and went home, I just have a little thing I noticed in my WordPress. Maybe it’s because I used Disqus so the comment system doesn’t read it. There is a website that uses my direct link. I also don’t know why but I don’t get notification of who likes my post. Above all, I don’t know how to fix it. That little thing I saw if there was a direct link in one of my posts. And thanks to xxanimexxgirlsxx for giving me a nomination with this great award. I just saw it a few days ago but still postponing it. There are a lot of busy including colleges and my proposal. In contrast, it’s sad I know.

In this award, there are some rules I must follow for this nomination and award to work properly. The awards are:

  • display the logo;
  • thank the blogger for the award;
  • answer the questions from the one who nominated you;
  • nominate 7 to 10 bloggers; and
  • ask them 7 questions.

How did you get into blogging and how did you decide what your content would be?

I don’t know how it all started. I started with a bunch of friends via Blogspot but we often delete and re-create it many times. And this blog comes indirectly also where it just comes into my mind. I thought, “Instead of spending time playing games, why not just create a blog that contains movie reviews?”. And that’s why all this started. It’s human, dude and humans alone are hard to predict.

How do you stay motivated about blogging or following a schedule on a lazy day?

I don’t have any motivation. I’m blogging depends on how my mood is. Even so, I often push myself when my mood isn’t good. I always thinking about many things or feel depressed. But, it’s not good for health and I have tried it many times. Please, don’t try that. Maybe I also motivated by reading many articles about film and philosophy. Sometimes, I also get that motivation by watching lots of essay videos and movie reviews. From here, the draft filled with lots of craps and you don’t know where to start.

What was the one thing, related to your blog, that brought you immense joy?

Man, how long have I not heard that word? I don’t even remember if I ever felt an immense joy or not. If the joy related to my blog, I feel it. Writing is fun and I can get a lot of things too just by writing. I temporarily do that. You know, being a freelancer. However, when talking about reality, I never think about whether I was happy to be here or not. Yeah, life is beautiful and full of ambiguity sometimes.

Have you ever attended a con and what was it like?

First of all, are conventions and festivals the same word because I always assume that they are the same? Second, speaking of the convention, I just went to one of the Japanese festivals yesterday. Today is also the last day so I’m still doubtful about the festival. I always see a convention in big cities, through the internet, about its grandeur. Because when will you be able to meet people who have hobbies and have the same characteristics as you? However, I never expected a convention in my places like Comic-Con or whatever. If you ask what was it like, it’s probably easier to describe it with “expectation vs reality” kind of things.

If you could do any cosplay you wanted, who would it be and why?

I don’t have any interest in cosplay. Maybe for a reason but I prefer taking pictures with them. If I could do any cosplay I wanted, I would wear a costume that covers all of my body and face. Maybe you can say such as Stormtrooper or a knight whatsoever. Why? Because of anxiety, dude. I don’t dare, let alone be proud, cosplaying my favorite character. And I’ll never, and never will, do it. But, I might choose to be Freddie Quell, Daniel Plainview, and Rei Kiriyama I guess. Because they are insane and I love insane.

Name one anime and one manga you rewatch and/or reread without getting bored of.

“Monster” by Naoki Urasawa. I like this manga and anime. Yeah, it’s kind of elitist if you say. But, if you like this type of work with brilliant writing or you love “Breaking Bad“, this is for you. This was before “Breaking Bad”. And I also guarantee that Vince Gilligan could be inspired by this manga and anime. Above all, it has similar concepts, similar characters, similar structures, and similar plots.

What anime is your favorite so far for 2019?

Now, this is what I am waiting for. I’m waiting for questions like this from the first question. Also, I don’t know where to start. First, I might put “Demon Slayer” and “Dororo” in the first place. And then, I put “Carole & Tuesday“. And finally, I put all my list from this year such as “The Rising of the Shield Hero“, “The Promised Neverland“, “Mob Psycho 100 II“, “Kaguya-sama: Love Is War“, and others.

That’s it, my friend. Those are the answers I have given you. Even more, I gave it a spice on it and almost all the flavors were in the answers. For the nominations, maybe it’s a little bit hard to choose one by one but this is for nominations.

  1. Otaku Orbit
  2. OWLS: Otaku Warriors for Liberty and Self-Respect
  3. Blerdy Otome
  4. My Kawaii Quarter
  5. RABUJOI – An Anime Blog
  6. Marth’s Anime Blog
  7. Shoujo Thoughts: Otaku Ramblings

And these are all my questions for you:

  1. What do you think of blogging and do you get anything when you make a blog?
  2. Do you like watching movies? If so, tells me what is your favorite movie!
  3. What do you usually do in your free time besides blogging?
  4. A little philosophy, do you feel that there is someone or something controlling you?
  5. Do you watch YouTube? If yes, tell me what is your favorite channel.
  6. What is your favorite anime? if possible, I want an anime with dementia, psychological theme, or some kind of arthouse. I need a recommendation!
  7. What is the most overrated anime according to you and why?

And that’s all I think. I followed everything and here it is. Furthermore, I never thought of writing a post about this. Moreover, this blog only focuses on film reviews, anime reviews, and other reviews. Hence, I never thought that this is a personal blog. But sometimes, it’s fun to write a post like this. As always, thanks to you, xxanimexxgirlsxx, for giving this little but wholesome award to this blog.

An Indonesian who loves to watch and read everything. A literary student who likes to write about reviews and essays on Crackdown Review. But, I just wannabe critics who love arthouse than anything.
